How are we procuring flexibility?

Our approach to procurement is based around two procurement cycles per year. As far as possible we will align our procurement activity to these biannual windows but if an urgent and unforeseen flexibility need should arise outside these windows, we may publish an additional invitation to tender.

We will

• signpost the flexibility requirements on the Where are we procuring page of this website.
• issue a contract notice on ‘Find a Tender’ to advertise the Northern Powergrid Dynamic Purchasing System which will be used to establish the tender lists for each flexibility tender.
• We use a Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) for our flexibility requirements. The DPS is open all year round. Potential suppliers should pass the pre-qualification questionnaire to be included on the DPS and receive an invitation to tender for our flexibility requirements.

Step 1

If you're new to Piclo Flex then create an account via the registration page. After an account has been created, we recommend FSPS upload applicable assets. Find out more about uploading assets here. 

Step 2

 If your organisation is not already pre-qualified to provide flexibility services to Northern Powergrid, you should apply for company qualification before the DPS closes at noon on Wednesday 10 April. . Find out more about the DPS application here.

Step 3

If you are intending to bid, you will need to confirm entry and ensure your assets are eligible to participate by noon on 16 May. The bidding window opens on Friday, 17 May 2024 and closes at noon on Monday, 03 June.
